ST. FRANCIS XAVIER PARISH CELEBRATES 55 YEARS OF EXISTENCE

The St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church situated at Kotobabi in the Accra Archdiocese gathered as a family on Sunday, 5th December, 2021 to climax their 55th anniversary celebration as a church.

In attendance was the apostolic nuncio to Ghana, His Excellency Henryk Mieczyslaw Jagodzinski who was the main celebrant for the occasion as well as the guest of honor.

The colorful ceremony saw the Knights and Ladies of St. John International mount a guard of honor to grace the occasion. Parishioners as well attended in their numbers clothed in beautiful traditional attires representing their tribes.

In his homily, the nuncio spoke about the life of St. Francis Xavier, how he went about spreading love through the word of God and baptizing both the young and old in the name of the Holy Trinity. He also said St Francis Xavier encouraged sinners to repent from their sins and be willing to follow the footsteps of Christ.

He further said he sacrificed all his talents and abilities fighting to the end under the banner of the cross and with his last breath he prayed the words of the Anima Christi prayer.

He charged all parishioners to follow the example of their patron saint and always ask him to intercede on their behalf with the Father in heaven.

During the Holy Mass celebration awards were presented to some deserving parishioners for their hard work and dedication.

As part of activities lined up for the celebration, there was unveiling of Divine Mercy statues donated by the Sacred Heart of Confraternity society as their contribution and support towards the growth of the church.
