The minister gave him a book on the main religious destinations in Malta. The Pope joked about the episode in which Saint Paul was attacked by a snake when he arrived on this island.

“We have more than 365 churches and chapels, all dedicated to faith, Christianity and religion. In total, there are more than 590 places of worship. Therefore, in such a small country, there are many opportunities for visitors seeking to enrich their religious experience. “
As tourism takes off again after more than a year of pandemic, the minister wants to boost religious tourism with all health security measures. For example, he wants to make the customs of his religious festivals known throughout the world.

“Malta is a very beautiful country with a very good climate. We have sun all year round. That is one reason to visit. But, in addition, we want people to visit us for our culture, for our history, for our religious objects, which can provide a unique attraction for visitors ”.
The minister hopes that Pope Francis will be among the next visitors and that he will enjoy the cultural and historical richness of the island that hosted São Paulo.
