NATIONAL CATHOLIC TV PROJECT COMMITTEE IN GHANA INAUGURATED

The committee formed to steer the affairs of acquiring a national Catholic television in Ghana was inaugurated officially on Monday, 14th June, 2021 at the National Catholic Secretariat (NCS) in Accra. Most Rev Philip Naameh, president of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference led the members of the committee to take their oath office.


The president of the GCBC assured the committee that he will engage all the bishops to encourage the faithful in their various dioceses to cultivate the act of giving in order to achieve the dream of acquiring the television channel in Ghana. The catholic TV he said will educate, entertain, teach and engage the faithful in many useful way therefore the conference will accompany them with their prayers since they have been selected as the technical team to lead this important project. He congratulated them and asked for God’s blessings upon them to be able to implement the project that most Catholics in Ghana have been waiting for.

In a speech to thank all present on behalf of his team, the chairman of the committee Ing. Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey said it is time for the Catholic Church in Ghana to proclaim the good news through the media, hence the idea to establish a television station. “The task that has been given to us is God’s task, the good thing about Christ is that when he commissions he provisions, so he has definitely found the Joseph of Arimathea, He has found the Mary Magdalene, He has found the people who are going to provide the resources to let this happen”, he said.

He explained that the national catholic TV project requires a national effort hence the need to involve all the other dioceses with contents, resources and people so the project will not be seen as an Accra project.

He urged the other members on the committee to be selfless and hardworking to embrace the task assigned to them to achieve their duty of bringing joy to many homes. He asked that the good Lord will fill them with a lot of unction to be able to carry out this task.

The rest of the executive on the committee include, Oheneyere Oteng-Boadu vice chairperson, Priscilla Menson, Secretary, Pius Toboh, assistant secretary, Osei-Wusu Agyemang the Financial Secretary, Robert Mawunyegah P.R.O and Mr. Joseph Kudjordji, an Ex-Officio member.
